EPT London High Roller – Day 2 Report

75 players returned to the tables of the EPT London’s £10k High Roller event. By the end of the day, the 9-handed final table had been reached and the chip counts for the final stretch of the poker tournament established. The player to finish with the largest stack was Talal Shakerchi, who took advantage of the tightness created by the money bubble in a textbook manner, to double up at a table where several “name” pros played. He ended up finishing with 1.7 million chips, quite a bit more than second place man Gautam Sabharwal, who finished with 1.11 million. Given the extremely pro-heavy nature of the starting field (the size of the buy-in made sure that only true pros registered to begin with), the final table will feature quite a few “name” players too. PokerStars pro Victoria Coren will return for the final showdown, together with PCA Main Event winner Dimitar Danchev, JC Alvarado, Fabian Quoss and Paul Volpe.

Daniel Negreanu took advantage of late registration at the beginning of the day, but he didn’t really get anything going: He busted out on the second hand he played, quite possibly setting a new record when it comes to burning through one’s buy-in extremely quickly.
Jason Mercier was among those eliminated on Day 2 too. Mercier got all his chips into the middle with pocket Ks on the turn of a Q-high board. Dimitar Danchev was happy to make the call with pocket rockets though, and Mercier failed to catch up.
Isaac Haxton was sent to the rail before the money bubble as well, together with Bryn Kenney and Bertrand Grospellier.
The hand of the day was Roberto Romanello’s flopped boat against flopped quads loss to Anaras Alekberovas. Philipp Gruissem was the bubble-boy of the event.
