GPI Changes and…What’s going on With Negreanu’s Hair?

The GPI (Global Poker Index)’s Player of the Year rankings saw no changes within the top 10. Ole Schemion hung on to the lead, with 892.4 points. Paul Volpe is still second, followed by PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu in 3rd. The one bringing up the rear of the top 10 is Scott Seiver. Despite the relative quiet (there have been movements further down the ranks), the PoY list will probably see quite a bit of bustle after the conclusion of the
EPT’s London stop.
The Top 300 has already shown hints of the turmoil that will probably be reflected by the PoY rankings as well: while Marvin Rettenmaier remained on top, followed by Ole Schemion,
PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu rebounded landing in 4rd place. He climbed no fewer than 4 spots, mostly on account of major drops players previously ahead of him registered. Negreanu is actually playing in London, and even though he hasn’t yet achieved anything spectacular, his new hair(do) alone is worth at least a 4-position gain. Indeed, something seems to be astir on top of poker’s most charismatic player’s head, and though he swears the visible results are due to a combination of acai berry and peanut butter, fans all over the web suspect there may be a much more radical procedure behind it all.
Anyway, Negreanu wasn’t the only one to benefit from Philipp Gruissem’s massive drop (he lost no fewer than 9 spots). David Sands climbed a place as well, landing in 3rd.
Steve O’Dwyer continued to make his way up the ladder, climbing a spot into 5th place, while Mike Watson dropped into 6th.
Igor Kurganov was one of the three players within the top 10 to maintain his previous position. Paul Volpe climbed a spot, while Brynn Kenney and Jason Mercier both moved up two.
