Midweek online poker tournament action

Midweek tournament action is usually nothing to write home about in the online poker world. Sure, there are all sorts of guaranteed tournaments with decent buy-ins running during the week too, but the bulk of the meaningful action takes place over the weekend. The fact that the FTOPS’ XVIIIth edition is currently in full swing, means however that there was plenty of high buy-in, high prize pool tournament action over the week.
The biggest single prize taken down the last few days was a $275,000 haul, which ended up in Sebastian Bauer’s pockets. Bauer won FTOPS event #16, besting a starting field of 1.341 players. The buy-in for the event cost $1,060. No fewer than 3 6-figure winners were created by the above said event, as second place man Nate Wachtel took down $181,000, and 3rd place man MHE DOEDET finished with a $127,000 profit. Kevin McPhee ended up in 7th place, taking home $27,700.

Another FTOPS event that created a whole bunch of six figure winners, was event #22. This one cost only $322 to enter, and it attracted a starting field of 928 players. The winner, Jason Helder, took home a massive prize of $213,000. Mark Newhouse finished second for a $140,000 reward. Caio Pimenta, the third-place man, also crept into six figures with his $100,000 haul.
Notable finishes in this event were those of Craig Bergeron and Jesse Cohen, who ended up in 8th and 12th places respectively.

Though the bulk of the midweek online poker tournament action was focused at Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars saw some decent high buy-in tourney action as well. The $1,050 Super Tuesday awarded the biggest tournament prize on PokerStars. The haul weighed in at $82,900, and it ended up in Coilemaster85’s pockets. James Mackey played in this event as well: he ended up in 25th, collecting a little over $3,000 for his efforts.
