Online Poker Action – Antonius vs Hansen

Last week, the action at the high stakes cash tables saw quite a bit of a flare-up, both at
Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars. At Full Tilt, the story was basically the battle between Patrick Antonius and Gus Hansen for the biggest winner of the year title. Hansen had held that title for a while, before Antonius overtook him a week ago. Last week however, the Great Dane stormed back into the top spot, winning more than $1.1 million in 6,642 hands over 52 sessions at Full Tilt. In the meantime, Antonius lost more than that, putting himself out of contention for a while and sliding all the way to 8th spot on the 2011 winners’ list.
The two were not the only active players in the high stakes circles over the last week. Viktor Blom got busy at
PokerStars too as did Cole South and Gavin Cochrane.
Cochrane must’ve developed some sort of obsession about getting the better of Isildur1, because apparently he can’t seem to be able to play anyone else lately. For their latest session, the two players fired up 6 tables of $50/$100 PLO, playing two different sessions. Of these, the second one was the more substantial one and that was where Blom made most of his profits. When all was said and done, the Swede was up $91k. The largest pot of the session was a $49k monster, which ended up in Blom’s possession after he made a straight on the turn to shove aside whatever his opponent had.
Cole South returned to the high stakes tables last week too. The American pro had apparently moved to Canada to be able to pursue his profession, and by the looks of it, it proved to be a great idea as he managed to amass some handsome profits almost straight away.
Gus Hansen finished the week with the biggest profit (more than $1.1m). Kagome kagome and Seb86 also made the winner’s list.
Antonius was the biggest loser, followed by Gavin Cochrane and Esvedra.
