Online poker action – Blom and Cates win

The high stakes online poker action was about a couple of duels this week, one of them at Full Tilt Poker and the other one at PokerStars. At Full Tilt, Patrik Antonius took on Daniel Cates at the PLO and PL Holdem tables. At
PokerStars, Viktor Blom locked horns with Scott Palmer. The two winners of the two confrontations were Cates and Blom, by rather impressive margins too.
Cates and Antonius got together for a little heads-up $300/$600 PLO and PL Holdem at
Full Tilt Poker. The session quickly turned into a one-sided trouncing, in which Cates took down all three 6-figure pots that developed, and walked away with $608k of Antonius’ money when things were all said and done.
The biggest pot of the session was a $350k one, for which the two players decided to run the turn and the river cards twice. Cates had a top two pair when the chips went into the middle, and both runs preserved his advantage, giving him the entire monster pot.
The two other 6-figure pots that developed were a $168k one and a $159k one. Again: they both ended up in Cates’ pockets.
Blom and Scott Palmer played at PokerStars’ $100/$200 PLO tables. This session was a relatively one-sided affair too: Isildur1 got his hands on about half a million of his opponent’s money.
The top pot of the session was a $112k monster which – needless to say – went to the Swede. Having flopped a top two pair, there was nothing in the world that could stop Blom from shoving all-in. Palmer had an overpair and he got a flush draw on the turn. What’s more, he even managed to fill his flush on the river, but the card that got him there also gave Blom a boat and that was pretty much it.
Andreas Torbergsen and ‘compris’ also made the winners’ list.
