Online Poker Action – Blom Wins $1 Million. Again.

Sunday didn’t start well for Full Tilt Poker pro Viktor Blom: he lost a heads-up match against PokerStars’ Bertrand Grospellier, a bout which was part of the Full Tilt vs PokerStars series initiated a couple of weeks ago by Daniel Negreanu and Gus Hansen. Blom wasn’t going to just call it a day after his loss though. He hung around at the high stakes tables and he did indeed manage to get a few suckers opponents to play him.
He first put in a 308 hand session at the 2-7 Triple Draw tables, where he shed $163k. He took a breather and returned to score a $98.9k profit in just 184 hands. He also played $2k/$4k PLO at the same time and he managed to take down $200k there. At that point, with everything accounted for, he was already about $136k in the black. He wasn’t done though.
He hit the $400/$800 PLO tables, where he locked horns with Ben Tollerene, one of the biggest winners of the last few days. The two exchanged several massive-size pots and while Tollerene did take down a few heavy hitters himself, in the end, it was Blom who emerged with the $700k profit. A true red-blooded professional, Tollerene was quite unfazed by the loss, taking it all in stride.

In the end, Blom didn’t just finish the biggest winner for the day, he managed to vault right back to top spot in the biggest 2013 earners list. Kostritsyn held the lead before Blom’s crazy ride, but now Blom is ahead by about $30k. Phil Galfond and Ben Tollerene are also near the top, but they’re quite a bit off the breakneck pace dictated by Blom and Kostritsyn.
“SallyWoo” is the one who rounds out the top 5.
