Online Poker Action – Galfond Soaring at Full Tilt

The online poker community witnessed a historic achievement go into the books this week: Phil Galfond became only the third player to win more than $10 million at Full Tilt Poker going back to 2007. The identities of the previous two players to achieve the feat don’t really come as a surprise: we’re talking about Patrik Antonius and Phil Ivey.
Galfond passed the historic milestone at the end of a profitable week of action, which saw him take down $632.1k over 32 sessions totaling 3,569 hands. As impressive as they were, Galfond’s profits didn’t even land him the biggest winner of the week title. He finished runner-up to Ben Tollerene, who pocketed $662.2k in 5,045 hands over 44 different sessions.
Also making the winners’ list was Kyle Hendon, who finished $638.6k above the red line this time. Tom Dwan, Nicki Jedlicka and Vladimir Schemelev made the winners’ list as well.

Wherever there are winners, there have to be losers too of course. This week, the biggest loser was Alexander Kostritsyn, a player whose name usually graces the winners’ ranks. He dropped a staggering $585.2k over 4,243 hands. A player known as Samrostan finished second, having dropped $541.2k. The biggest loser over at PokerStars was MIKMIC888, who lost $425k.

Most of Galfond’s profits came on Thursday, when he won close to $800k, playing Omaha Hi/Lo and 2-7 Triple Draw. The players who donated him the money were Alex Kostritsyn and Patrik Antonius, but the biggest “contributor” turned out to be Viktor Blom who joined the fray a little later.
Interestingly enough, Gus Hansen, the eternal loser, managed to book a winning session on Thursday as well, taking down $199.5k. Tom Dwan and Kagome Kagome were also among the winners on Thursday.
