Online Poker Action – Ilari Sahamies Swings into Action

Overall online poker traffic has taken quite a bad hit after the Black Friday events. Players have disappeared from the tables, some have lost their entire bankrolls, which now lie under lock in Full Tilt Poker’s coffers, the high stakes action never really managed to get going. While there were indeed a significant number of non-Americans playing at the high stakes tables, the majority of them were still based in the US, which meant that Black Friday has pretty much robbed them of the possibility to do what they do for a living: play poker.
Up until the other day, the future of high stakes online poker looked pretty bleak. Then came the first sign that the nosebleed stakes scene is in fact adapting: players have moved to PokerStars now, the home of Isildur1 and now apparently Ilari Sahamies too. Wherever these two players rear their heads, million dollar swings and monster pots are never far behind.

Last week, Sahamies has put in a 55-session effort, during which he logged 5,080 hands and generated a profit of more than $1million. His deed marked the first million dollar+ online effort by anyone in the wake of Black Friday. Sahamies seems to have found a lucrative source of money exploiting Isildur1’s swingy ways. Last week, the two appeared to be “working” together. Blom hit the 6-max tables, amassing winnings, which he would then take to the $100/$200 PLO tables, to donate to Sahamies.
Sahamies took several monster pots from his victim through the day, the biggest one of which tipped the scale at $66k.

Other players saw action as well, and there were other big winners too, although none quite as successful as the crazy Finn. Phil Galfond pocketed $300k+ in profits and Andreas Torbergsen did well too, taking down about $202k.
Theo Jorgensen became the biggest loser of the week after he dropped $279k over 2,025 hands.
