Online Poker Action – Million Dollar Swings

In the absence of the US player base, Europeans have stepped up to the plate nicely, igniting a more than welcome resurgence of the high stakes cash games at PokerStars.
PokerStars’ resident pro Isildur1 was at the forefront of this resurgence, together with
Full Tilt Poker refugee Ilari Sahamies. A week ago, the two players locked horns at the high stakes tables where Ilari Sahamies took Blom for more than $1 million, marking the first ever post Black-Friday million dollar online swing. This week, the two players were back at it, and this time the money found its way back to Blom’s bankroll.
Blom has managed to add more than $1 million to his roll over a 24-hour period. There was plenty of high stakes action all through the week though, as professionals seemed to ready themselves for the upcoming WCOOP.
Even though he did pocket the $1 million+ at one point, Isildur1 dropped some of that money later. He still finished the week as the biggest winner, with a $630k profit to his name. Andreas Torbergsen did pretty well too: he generated a profit of $334k.
Beyond the shadow of a doubt, Sahamies was the biggest loser: he dropped slightly more than $ 1million. Phil Galfond lost quite a bit too. The losers’ list was rounded out by Gavin Cochrane.
The Sahamies-Blom confrontation was a two-round affair. The first time around, Blom took about $420k from the Finn, to which he later added $100k from Gavin Cochrane.
Obviously bothered by the outcome of the first session, Sahamies returned for another bout, in an attempt to recover some of his losses. As it usually turns out in such instances, instead of recouping his losses, he dropped even more money: Blom took another $726k off him, thrusting his 24h profits above the $1 million mark.
The biggest pot of the bout was a $235k one, which ended up in Blom’s possession.
