Online poker action – XWINK hit hard by NoPasaran

Since he re-appeared at
Full Tilt Poker, Canadian mystery-man XWINK has pretty much hogged all the lime-light at the high stakes tables of the site. He has been riding a rollercoaster of profits and losses, fleecing quite a few of the Full Tilt regulars and dropping money to some of the less hyped players. Over the last couple of days, the cash game action at the site slowed down somewhat, but that didn’t keep XWINK away from the tables. He locked horns with NoPasaran at the $300/$600 PLO tables, and shed quite a bit of money. 6-figure pots flew left and right and the action was extremely intense. One of the biggest pots of the session was a $142,189 one, which landed in NoPasaran’s pockets. The money went all-in on the river of a board which contained no fewer than 4 hearts. XWINK was the one who pushed all-in, quite probably aiming to bluff his opponent out of the hand. The clever check on the river paid huge dividends for NoPasaran though as he had a K-high flush against XWINK’s measly top pair.
Such bad calls were not the only ones responsible for XWINK’s losses though. Lady Luck had obviously decided to side with his opponents too. On one occasion, the chips went into the middle preflop, with XWINK holding A,A,5,3 against No Pasaran’s Q,Q,10,6. The board was run twice, and the first time it landed a Q right away. The board paired up to give NoPasaran a boat. XWINK just couldn’t catch up with that.
The second flop gave XWINK a set, but it also gave NoPasaran a flush draw, which promptly filled up on the turn. Thus, NoPasaran ended up scooping the entire pot.
Over at
PokerStars, Gavin Cochrane dominated the $50/$100 PLO action. His main victim was compris, from whom Cochrane picked up a $133k pot.
The week’s biggest winner was NoPasaran, followed by Gus Hansen, Refaelamit and Daniel Cates.
