Online Poker action – XWINK returns and he takes no prisoners

Last week, the high stakes online poker action was positively rabid. Sahamies was in action again at PokerStars, together with Viktor Blom. Ivey and kagome kagome squared off at
Full Tilt Poker, where a player long thought to have disappeared off the nosebleed stakes for good, XWINK, reared his head too.
If he is who the majority of railbirds think he is, XWINK’s story is akin to a legend. Having played at
Ultimate Bet first (under the nickname XBLINK), where he allegedly managed to turn his last $11 into a several hundred thousand dollar bankroll, the Canadian then surfaced at Full Tilt Poker under his current moniker. After a while, he disappeared never to be heard of again, until last week that is. XWINK showed up with a vengeance, taking on Jared Bleznick and David Benefield and taking a combined $700k from them, most of which came from Bleznick.
Ilari Sahamies continued to play well over at
PokerStars. Ever since he stopped playing at Full Tilt Poker and moved his operation to PokerStars, the Finn’s fortunes took a 180 turn. Last week, he played $25/$50 PLO at the six-handed tables, against opposition which included Viktor Blom. Over two days, Sahamies booked profits totaling $150k.
One of the biggest pots he took down was a $45k one, after he hit trips on the river against Blom’s pair of 7s.
The other noteworthy nosebleed stakes confrontation of the week took place at the $3,000/$6,000 tables at Full Tilt Poker, where Phil Ivey gave kagome kagome a rematch and a chance to recover the $500k he had lost about week ago. The rematch didn’t exactly go the way the German had planned and he ended up dropping another $432k to Ivey.
The biggest winner of the week was gavz101, followed by Blom and refaelamit.
Scott Palmer and compris joined Jared Bleznick on the biggest losers’ list.
