Online poker weekend – high profile final table in Sunday Warm Up

The Super Bowl slowed pretty much everything down around the country and the world over the weekend, but it didn’t quite manage to quench online regulars’ thirst for high buy-in tournament action. All major online poker rooms managed to cover the guarantees offered by their weekly flagship MTTs. Full Tilt Poker’s $750 Guaranteed yielded another more than handsome starting field, but the biggest single prize went yet again to the winner of PokerStars’ Sunday Million. The starting fields were all rather pro-heavy, and in the PokerStars Sunday Warm Up, an interesting heads-up match developed between Liv Boeree and James Mackey.
The Sunday Million, which attracted a starting field of 8,134 and generated a prize-pool of $1,626,800, was won by marin06. The winner’s share of the prize-pool was a massive $244k. Two more players finished in 6-figures: Ashley Mason and Matt Ezrol, who picked up $178k and $122k respectively.
Other notable finishes were those of Joseph Chaplin and Ryan Olisar.

The Sunday Warm Up produced one hell of a heads-up showdown between James Mackey and Liv Boeree. Liv Boeree emerged with the win eventually, after 175 hands of heads-up warfare. She picked up $147k for her efforts. Mackey didn’t exactly have to go home empty-handed either: he was rewarded with $109k for his second place.
Jonathan Karamalikis also played in this event. He finished 16th for $2.8k. Daniel Negreanu made it all the way to 22nd place to pick up $2.3k.

Full Tilt Poker’s $750k Guarantee once again drew a monster starting field. The 6,607 players who registered for the event, created a prize-pool of $1.3 million, nearly double the size of the guarantee.
After a 2-way deal at the top, OSUTexan won the tournament for a $191k reward. Mattssons finished second for $176k. Another player to finish in six-figures was third-place man Fonsemand. He picked up $109k for his efforts.
