Online poker weekend – Lars Bonding wins again

The PCA may be in full swing, but given the steep buy-ins featured by pretty much all of its more popular events, and given its location, it has become more of a destination for the poker elite than for the masses lately. That would explain why it had little impact on player numbers in the weekend’s various high buy-in online poker guarantees.
PokerStars’ Sunday Million was yet again responsible for handing out the biggest single prize. Following a 3-way deal at the top, kubik-rubik7 won $194,769 for his second place effort. The winner of the event, Roydon Rock, had a good payday too: he walked away with $158,054.
The
poker tournament attracted a starting field of 8,427 players. The prize-pool was a $1,685,400 one, covering the guarantee with ease.
Other 6-figure winners in the Sunday Million were Doeks and tankitan who finished in 3rd and 4th places respectively.
The Sunday Warm-up was the event that delivered an interesting twist: victory in this event went to Lars “Dsavo” Bonding, who had already won it once before. He turned into a repeat offender after a 2-way deal at the top, which saw him pocket $127,744 for his first place. Second place man unta had to settle for $108,711.
The event attracted a starting field of 4,657, creating a prize-pool of $931,400.
Notable finishes were those of Faraz Jaka and Josh Prager.
There were plenty of other high prize-pool guarantees at
PokerStars during the weekend, but none of them gave birth to another 6-figure winner.
Full Tilt Poker’s $750k Guarantee managed to cover the guarantee as well. It saw 4,045 players belly up to its tables, generating a prize-pool of $809k. The winner, sasodiits walked away with more than $128k. Second place man Mike Leah won $100,500 to land in 6-figures as well.
