Online Poker Weekend – Life Goes On

With
Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars back in business and looking to return to as normal a day-to-day existence as possible, the past weekend saw a relatively decent number of players hit the guaranteed tournament tables. Surely, the numbers were well down from pre-Black Friday weekends, but the sites have adapted to the new environment.
PokerStars for instance have reduced the guarantee offered by their Sunday Million from $1.5 million to $1 million.
6,552 players showed up for the event, combining buy-ins to create a $1,310,400 prize-pool. The winner of the event was VanDerPelto, who took home $131k. Due to a 5-way deal at the top though, he was not the one who took down the top prize. Runner-up Peter Traply did that, by pocketing $156k. steintommy, who finished 4th, was the other 6-figure winner in the event.
Because many of the notables playing in the Sunday Million had been Americans, this time around, there were few such “name” players in the field. Besides Traply, there was just one noteworthy name in the top 28. Charles Gagnon ended up in 28th place for a $2,738 prize.
Although the Sunday Million only saw 3 players walk away with 6-figure profits, overall, there were 9 such 6-figure winners over the weekend, thanks to the FTOPS XX’s various events which ran. Event #24 alone contributed 3 6-figure winners to the tally. Andriy Pavlyuk won this one for a $205,500 reward. Michael Le was second, taking home $172,250 for his efforts.
Mike McDonald played in this one too, finishing 10th for almost $10k. Sorel Mizzi finished 15th for $6,875.
Event #22, the $129
NL Holdem Multi Entry Knockout event, saw a massive starting field of 10,650 belly up to the tables. After a 2-way deal at the top, obvisobv won the event, taking home $146k. 1milionbankrol finished 2nd for $130k.
PokerStars’ Sunday Warm-up created another 6-figure winner.
