PokerStars EPT Prague – Day 2 Report

The second day of the PokerStars EPT Prague Main Event featured 6 75-minute levels, during which the returning field of 407 players successfully played down to 136. Garri Tevosov was the one who clinched the chip lead at the end of the day, having amassed a stack of 764k.
Several Team PokerStars pros and other notables were among the starters on Day 2. Bertrand Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov and Lex Veldhuis were all there, unfortunately, none of them managed to survive to day 3.
Lex Veldhuis fell at the hands of Artur Wasek. He was sitting in the cut-off and he placed a raise only to be re-raised by Marian Murcek. Wasek was quick to make the call from the BB, in response to which Veldhuis shoved all-in. Murcek was wise enough to duck, but Wasek made the call, although it took him quite a while to make the decision.

Veldhuis tabled A,Qo against Wasek’s Qd, Jd and he maintained his lead on the flop which bricked out. The Q on the turn was still good for him but the J on the river turned the tables and he was eliminated. Several other poker pros bit the dust on day 2 too. Veldhuis and co were followed to the rail by Steve O’Dwyer, Andrew Frankenberger, Salman Behbehani, Fernando Brito and Olivier Busquet.
EPT champion and high stakes tournament regular Kevin MacPhee got his chips into the middle too, holding pocket Ks against Tevosov’s pocket Qs. The flop looked good for MacPhee but the turn brought another Q, giving his opponent a set and the pot.

Given the abundance of name players, the above eliminations failed to reduce the concentration of notables at the tables. Mike McDonald, Chris Moorman and Anton Wig are all still in the running. PokerStars’ own Liv Boeree and Jude Ainsworth survived as well.
The top 104 places will pay, so the bubble is set to burst on day 3.
