EPT Prague

Sitting in the heart of Europe, the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities of the old continent. Having served as the administrative center of the country for more than a thousand years, the city boasts 600 years of architecture which has never been stirred up by natural disasters or war. Getting to Prague is a no-brainer. There are flights from just about every major European city, so basically what the choice comes down to is where one starts from.

The EPT Prague will run between December 5 and 10. The City is beautiful all year round, but visiting it around Christmas is always more special. Last year, the EPT’s Main Event drew a starting field of 563 players, who came from all over Europe and from other parts of the world too. The prize-pool was generous and the winner, Welshman Roberto Romanello, took home a €640k prize. Team PokerStars Pro was well represented among the top ranks. Its highest finishing member was Poland’s Marcin Horecki, who took down €247k for his 3rd place.
This year, the Main Event will cost €5,000 + €300 to enter. Buying in directly at the Hilton Prague Hotel (the scene of the action) is possible. Players can also buy in through PokerStars, or they can satellite their way in. The stop consists of a Main Event and several side events and Super Satellites. There are online satellites running at PokerStars too, complete with sub-satellites, some of which cost only small change to enter.
The Main Event is capped at 700 players, so those who intend to take part should make sure to qualify/buy-in in time. Those who buy in through PokerStars will be considered PokerStars-sponsored players, even though it’s their own money they’ll use for the buy-in. Buying in this way is possible right down to 3 hours before the event.
