EPT Deauville

The EPT Deauville has become quite a staple stop for the EPT over its last few seasons. The elegant French Seaside resort seems to attract more and more players each year. Its season 7 edition saw a record starting field of 891 players belly up to the tables. The registrants generated a prize-pool of €4,276,800. Local player Lucien Cohen was the one who won the Main Event, keeping the title at home and pocketing a €880k prize. Cohen bested Sweden’s Martin Jacobson heads-up for the win. Jacobson was an online qualifier who had won his EPT Deauville Main Event seat online through PokerStars, and at the end of Season 7, he won the Online Qualifier of the Year title, as recognition for his efforts which resulted in profits of more than €1.1 million.

The EPT Deauville consists of several events, among them side-events and live super satellites. Those who intend to play in the Main Event, can buy in directly at the Casino Barriere (which will once again host the stop), or they can attempt to qualify there, through one of the super satellites. The stop will take place between January 31 and February 6. The Main Event costs a massive €5,000 + €300 to enter. Capped at 1,000 players, it is obvious that the organizers hope to break the attendance record yet again.
Buying in directly is possible through PokerStars too. Players who choose to go down this road should know that they’ll be considered PokerStars-sponsored players even though they will have to pay out the whole buy-in from their own bankrolls.
The best way to earn an EPT Deauville Main Event seat is through one of the qualifiers running at PokerStars. There are direct access satellites too, but those are quite expensive to enter directly. Through the steps satellites, players can win a seat for as little as €2.2 or 15 FPPs.
