EPT San Remo

The EPT’s landmark Italy stop has been moved forward on the Season 8 schedule. The EPT San Remo kicks off on October 21 and the hostilities will go on right till October 27. The San Remo Main Event has always been one of the most popular EPT events. Players never really had any problems coughing up the rather steep buy-in, and of course, there has always been an abundance of online qualifiers. Last season, the Main Event saw 988 players belly up to the tables. This season - given the fact that the event is now capped at 800 players - that number is guaranteed to be smaller. Last year, the winner of the event was Rupert Elder. He pocketed a top prize of €930k, after he bested Max Heinzelmann heads-up. The German scored his second straight second-place finish with that.

The EPT San Remo Main Event costs €4,600 + €300 to enter. Buying in is possible at the location, however there are some restrictions players must know about: buying in for real money at the scene of the deed is only possible for events which cost less than €5k. For everything that costs more, players have to use their credit cards. All cash buy-ins must be made in Euros, no other currency is accepted. Qualifying online is possible at PokerStars of course.

Also known as the City of Flowers, San Remo is a popular tourist resort featuring a mild climate. The place is known in poker circles as the birthplace of the Telesina Stud variant. San Remo features a golf course. Those who await their turn at the green felt, of – God forbid – bite the dust way too early, will be able to go horseback riding or to play tennis.
The Porto Vecchio marina is also quite a sight to behold.
