The first online poker weekend of the New Year

The very first online poker weekend of 2011 is in the books and 9 people can now boast that they have kicked off the New Year the best possible way: by scoring 6-figure profits. The biggest winner of the weekend was the winner of PokerStars Sunday Million again. He77_Razor took down $270,353. There were no deals registered in the Sunday Million, and 3 players walked away with 6-figure prizes. The other two lucky contestants were second place man stevemruk, who pocketed $198,786, and 3rd place finisher touchmynuts1, who took home $140,948.
The poker tournament generated a prize-pool of $1,893,200, handily covering the guarantee. No fewer than 9,466 players registered for the event. Notable finishers were Keith Ferrera and Gary Bogdanski, who ended up in 18th and in 41st places respectively.

The Sunday Warm-up was responsible for 3 more 6-figure winners, thanks to a 3-way deal at the top. 7de9 ended up with the winner’s spot, being rewarded with $138.294 for his efforts. Second place man (or rather woman) Anita seku won $114,190. Third place finisher pawnUz, won $106,216.
The event attracted a starting field of 5,046 players, which generated a prize-pool of $1,009,200.
Joe Ebanks ended up in 13th place for a $4,490 reward. Another notable finish was that of Stewart Yancik, who finished 26th for $2,472. With the six 6-figure winners it created, PokerStars proved yet again that it was the absolute leader in the online poker industry as far as high buy-in tournament action was concerned.
Two more 2 six-figure winners of the weekend came out of Full Tilt Poker’s $750k Guaranteed. Craig McCorkell clinched the top spot there over second place man Andras Nemeth. McCorkell won $133,939. Nemeth went home with $119,338. The event saw 4,556 players belly up to its tables, and it featured a prize-pool of $911,200, covering the guarantee and creating a large overlay.
