Although many of the
online tournament players set up shop at
Full Tilt Poker over the weekend, PokerStars saw quite a bit of tournament traffic as well.
The Sunday Million drew a starting field of 9,498 players, who created a prize-pool of $1,899,600, leaving the $1 million guarantee in the dust.
Sami Kelopuro, who finished second in the FTOPS XXII’s Main Event, made another deep run in the Sunday Million: he finished 5th for $75.9k. The winner of the event was a player known as cecko80, who took home $205.4k after a 3-way deal at the top. ollie_p finished second for $184.6k. In third place, chili197027 collected $222k for his efforts, being the last player to finish the event with a 6-figure prize.
Aaron Gustavson had a decent deep run as well: he finished 8th, picking up $20.8k.
The Sunday 500 saw 971 players cough up the $530 buy-in to generate a $485.5k prize-pool, well above and beyond the $300k guarantee. The winner of the tournament was poker pro Faraz Jaka, who took down the $84.8k top prize, without having struck any sort of deals with the other top finishers.
Jaka bested huhc heads-up. The share of the runner-up was $61.6k. Jordan Young finished 3rd for $46.1k.
James Vanneman was another deep-finishing pro: he finished 16th for $2.6k. Annette Obrestad made a deep run as well: she finished 22nd for $2k.
PokerStars’ Bigger $162 featured a guarantee of $150k and it drew a starting field of 1,944 players. The eventual prize-pool was nearly twice as big as the original guarantee: it tipped the scales at $291.6k. The winner of the event was none other than Joe Serock, who took home $46.6k for his efforts. Laurence Houghton was the deepest finishing notable: he finished 17th for $1.2k.
