The weekend was once again an extremely happening period for online tournament poker. Several big events rolled by, among them the Mini FTOPS’ Main Event which once again shattered the guarantee and more than doubled the size of the total prize-pool. No fewer than 45,232 players coughed up the buy-in for the event, giving birth to a $3,166,240 prize-pool. Because of the pro-heavy nature of the starting field, several more or less notorious players made deep runs in the event. KOMIJENDO was the one who eventually won though, taking down a $396,578 prize in the wake of a 2-way deal at the top.
The Mini FTOPS Main Event was not the only high prize-pool guarantee running at
Full Tilt Poker over the weekend. There was also a $1 million guarantee, which created 2 more 6-figure winners. PokerStars’ Sunday Million was also responsible for a whole bunch of 6-figure prizes: thanks to a multi-way deal at the top, no fewer than 5 players finished in 6 figures.
The Mini FTOPS’ Main Event saw Igor Panak finish second, for $360,944. Manu_litas finished 3rd, followed by TSchmidt in 4th. The last to break the 6-figure threshold was luckbox165, who finished 5th.
In the $1 million guarantee, there were no deals: NuggetMaster420 won this one fair and square, for a $221,241 haul. Darren Elias finished 2nd, for $135,871.
PokerStars’ Sunday Million attracted 9,594 players, who combined buy-ins for a $1,918,800 prize-pool. The eventual winner of the event was kalmuka, who took down by far the biggest prize at $234,574. Second place man BlackMojos was the only one in the top 6 to fail to break into 6-figures. All the other players did, as even 6th place man upstrick77 managed to pocket $135,354.
The Sunday Warm-up was responsible for 3 6-figure prizes as well. AntiTop1 walked away with the top prize there. Vitalijs Zavorotnijs finished second.
