This weekend turned out to be quite a bonanza for
online poker tournament action junkies:
Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS XXII got going in addition to the usual majors featured at
PokerStars.
The biggest prize of the weekend was yet again awarded by the Sunday Million, which saw 8,389 players belly up to its tables. Numerous notables saw action in the various events, and some of them managed to find success in several places. For instance, the winner of the first event of the FTOPS, Tom Middleton, finished 16th in PokerStars’ Sunday Warm-up.
There weren’t any deals at the top in the Sunday Million, so it’s safe to say that the eventual share of the winner was unaltered and untainted. The winner of the event was rumrun1, who took home $246.8k. He bested GoldRU heads-up. The share of the runner-up was a $180.3k chunk of the prize-pool.
Renato Almeida was the only notable in the top 10 and he ended up being the last player to finish in 6-figures. He took home $125.8k for his efforts.
The Sunday Warm-up drew a starting field of 3,509 players, generating a prize-pool of $701.8k. The event saw a 3-way deal at the top. At the end of it all, matt86ck walked away with the top prize of $100k, becoming the only player to have a 6-figure payday.
Jim Collopy was the highest-finishing notable in the event: he came in 4th, taking home $40.3k for his efforts.
Caio Pessagno’s win came in the Sunday 2nd Chance, which offered a prize-pool of $324k. Pessagno struck a deal with three of the other top finishers, before besting Gord0nGeck0 for the win. He took home $38k, while the runner-up pocketed $33.3k. Interestingly enough, the biggest winner of the event was 4th place man Jonathan Prested, who took home $39.1k.
