The SCOOP messed up the weekend schedule a little bit for the major guaranteed prize-pool events at PokerStars, but there was still plenty of action at
Full Tilt Poker. The biggest winner of the weekend, PreshaDroppa, who pocketed $236k for his efforts, emerged from Full Tilt Poker’s $1 Million guarantee. The MiniFTOPS raged on too, together with various events at
PokerStars, but none of these came close to the prizes awarded by the $1 Million guarantee at Full Tilt.
The event drew a starting field of 2,587 players, who combined buy-ins for a $1,552,000 prize-pool, handily topping the guarantee. The $640 buy-in didn’t really deter anyone from attending, and neither did the post Black Friday lull that has left a major mark on the cash game action at both top-rated online poker sites.
The winner, PreshaDroppa, made a deal with second place man Russell Carson, but he still managed to get away with the biggest haul. Carson took down $223k for his efforts. Another player, Laurence Houghton, finished in 6-figures too, taking home $114k for his 3rd place finish. 4th place finisher dante-sp came close too, winning $91k.
Notable finishes were those of XWINK, who took down $15.5k for his 11th place, and Nik Persaud whose 17th place was worth $8.3k.
The other weekend event which came close to delivering another 6-figure winner, was event #24 of the MiniFTOPS XX. More than 22,000 players coughed up the $33 buy-in to battle it out for their share of a $666k prize-pool. The winner, Uldahl, took home $97.9k for his efforts.
Brandon Rubie finished second in this event for a $64k reward. Ross Boatman played too, finishing in 20th place for $1.5k.
At PokerStars, the Sunday 500 drew a starting field of only 524 participants. Itzlingerass won the event for a $49.2k prize. steve3331 finished second for $35.8k. Jay Kinkade’s was the only notable name on the winners’ list.
