The poker grapevine – durrrr challenge and another grab-and-run

Full Tilt Poker has to keep up with PokerStars, regardless of the costs and regardless of whether they somehow end up looking unoriginal in the process. There’s no better proof to that than the new Challenge durrrr promotion they launched. That’s right, it’s Challenge durrrr and not durrrr Challenge, as there are quite a few differences in the formats of the two promotions. The format of the durrrr Challenge is known to everyone. That of the Challenge durrrr promotion is different and it’s eerily reminiscent of Isildur1’s SuperStar Showdown over at
PokerStars.
Despite the similarities, there are quite a few differences too. Unlike in Blom’s challenge, which features a somewhat loose registration format, and which is only accessible for superstars, durrrr’s new challenge aims to offer everyone an equal chance. Players do need to prove that they’re worthy of taking on durrrr though. In order to be accepted for the challenge, they need to finish on top of the special leader board. Leader board points can be earned by winning pots while playing at two tables at least or at a
Rush Poker table.
Those who finish at the top of the leader boards will then match skills in a $25k Matrix tournament. The top scorer will then get to play Dwan heads-up at 4 tables, for a prize of $1.5 million.
In other news: barely has the buzz about Bellagio robbery set, that someone else thought it was a good idea to grab a handful of chips off the table and run. The robber struck Thursday morning at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino and made off with about $32k in chips, a much smaller haul than that of the Bellagio robber. Instead of a motorbike, this guy used a taxi. The majority of the chips taken were $1k ones, the rest $500, $100 and $25 ones. Nobody was hurt in the robbery although a gun was pulled.
