The Poker Grapevine – Full Tilt vs PokerStars Reloaded

Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars used to do battle for the hearts and minds of
online poker players everywhere back in the days. Under the same management now, the rivalry seems to have carried over nonetheless only now the two online poker sites will throw their in-house professionals into the battle for supremacy under much friendlier circumstances.
The idea of a challenge pitting the professional players of the two websites against each other sprung out from a tweet that Gus Hansen fired out the other day, teasing
PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu about a monumental hand that he had lost to him on High Stakes Poker back in 2006. The said hand was indeed one for the history books, and its mere mentioning brought the competitive spirit out of Negreanu, who challenged not only Hansen, but his two fellow professionals Viktor Blom and Tom Dwan too, to a battle between the three of them and three professionals from PokerStars.
The challenge will apparently take place at the
EPT's London stop next month, and it will consist of a series of heads-up, battleship-style bouts between the protagonists. Hansen has already accepted Negreanu’s challenge, pending of course for the approval of his two Full Tilt Poker teammates. Given the fact that there are only three Full Tilt Poker pros, Hansen’s choices in the matter are rather limited indeed. On the other hand, Negreanu has the most impressive stable of online poker professionals to choose from.
To compensate for this slight handicap, the two have apparently agreed that Hansen would be the one choosing the actual matchups.
Whether or not Dwan and Blom are on board isn't quite clear yet, but given the potential publicity value of the stunt, they will probably jump right into the middle too.
