The poker grapevine – Isildur1 swings into action

As you probably know, one of online poker’s best know unknown players, Isildur1, has signed with
Pokerstars a few days ago, becoming an in-house pro for the world’s
largest online poker operation. The Swede wasted little time in getting right down to the action, as he already logged over 14 hours of play and 6,163 hands, over which he generated $287,500 in profits. One thing is clear, all that talk about improving his PLO game (PLO proved to be his undoing at the end of his 2009 Full Tilt poker run) was by no means pointless. All those above said hands were logged at the $25/$50 PLO tables, so Isildur1 is definitely working on that aspect of his game.
Whether Isildur1 succeeds in bouncing back to the level where he played in 2009 remains to be seen, one thing is certain though: PokerStars have hit the jackpot with this guy. If he ever manages to put together a sizeable bankroll, the nosebleed stakes cash game action is practically guaranteed to flare up wildly at the site. High stakes cash game action is still one of the very few angles where Pokerstars lag behind main competitor
Full Tilt Poker.
In other news: John Pappas, the PPA’s executive director has posted a statement on a notorious poker forum, aiming to clarify certain things around Harry Reid’s proposed online poker bill. According to Pappas, while the bill is definitely not dead yet, it may prove problematic to have it attached to the much-discussed Tax Bill, and therefore it’s definitely not a done deal either. Poker news outlets have bombarded the public with all sorts of assumptions lately, one more extreme than the other.
Pappas has also made it clear in his forum post that the PPA was definitely against the proposed 15-month blackout period, but he acknowledged that it was indeed a factor and that any future poker legislation would probably include a blackout period of some length.
