The poker grapevine – Maria Ho a UB pro

A patchless poker pro is not a real poker pro anymore apparently. There are fewer and fewer “name” players within the game’s top ranks who have not yet signed up to represent the interests of a large online poker operation. A few days ago, the “patchless pros” camp lost another notorious member in Maria Ho, who joined Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth at Ultimate Bet as the newest member of the site’s team of in-house professionals. Maria will appear wearing a
UB patch at the PokerStars NAPT’s LA stop. She will also play online at Ultimate Bet (so if you want to play her, you should definitely begin by opening a UB account), and she will write blog posts and articles in English and in Chinese.
In other news: after
PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker has pulled out of the state of Washington too. Washington residents will no longer be accepted at the site’s real money poker tables. Those who already have accounts there and have real money in their accounts, will still be able to play real money games, provided they’re not in the state. Those who reside in other states and have real money accounts at
Full Tilt Poker won’t be able to play either while in Washington state.
Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey and John Juanda are in Macau, for the APT, but that’s not quite the only thing on their minds apparently. They are playing Chinese businessmen in one of the biggest cash games the continent has ever seen: a HK$5,000/HK$10,000 high stakes extravaganza.
Juanda seems to be the biggest winner in the game so far, while the rest of the guys are struggling a few million HK$ under the red line. The pots that are played for are positively humungous. At one point, there were apparently more than $5 million on the table.
