The Poker Grapevine – PokerStars Starts Returning US Player Funds

PokerStars was the first Black Friday victim that undertook definitive moves to return US players’ funds that remained stuck at the site in the wake of the indictments. The site announced on Friday that over $100 million in player monies have been returned to their rightful owners, and that more was underway. The return of the funds was made possible by an agreement which the site struck with the DoJ after Black Friday. The importance of PokerStars’ move should not be underestimated as it set a precedent for Full Tilt Poker, which is rumored to be looking for ways to return its US players’ funds too.
According to Tony G, if Full Tilt Poker fails to return player monies by the WSOP’s start, the whole thing may blow up as many will be ashamed to show their faces at the events.
Tony G also said that he would probably not play in the 2011 WSOP, as sorting out the whole deal would probably be too much of a fuss for him.

In other news: Doyle Brunson has apparently decided to leave DoylesRoom for good. The legendary poker pro said that he had decided to make the move on account of his aspirations to get something going in the US online market once regulatory legislation was passed. DoylesRoom’s policy of continuing to serve US based customers placed it in direct violation of the same laws based on which the Black Friday indictments were handed out.
Doyle also said that while DoylesRoom still believed they had the right to use his name and his likeness, he had asked them not to do it.

In still other news: three more champions were crowned in event #11 of the SCOOP. The low buy-in version of the event was won by YouPayMyF458. The medium buy-in variant went to uri013. The high buy-in installment crowned Sir_winalot9 as its champion.
