The bulk of the high stakes online action usually happens on weekends, but the otherwise grey and dull weekdays also get their share of the hustle.
Poker rooms like
PokerStars and
Full Tilt Poker never rest.
PokerStars’ Super Tuesday for instance, attracted a solid crowd of 383 registrants, who pooled their buy-ins to offer the first place finisher of the event a $74,685 prize.
Some of PokerStars’ in house pros and name players were also present in the event. Jamie Armstrong for instance finished just short of the final table in 10th place, for a prize of $5,362. Other notable finished were those of Pat Pezzin (13th), Michael Caruso, Dylan Hortin and Jerry Payne.
The top 9 players who made it to the final table were headed by iCeVeNoM with 269,310 chips, followed by kalixalven with 261,678.
The final table short-stack was Yrrsinn (Michael Huber) who had 67,478 chips.
The short-stack was the first to go as the pressure of the blinds increased, and YrrsiNN soon mucked his last hand as iCeVeNoM promptly added his chips to his already towering stack. Edfelson left the final table in 8th place as his Ac,Kc proved to be no match for xxjondxx’s Qh, 8h on a board of 8,Q,8,10,2.
Edfelson was followed to the virtual rail by Evan Parks whose departure started a flow of eliminations. Geoff Rasmussen fell at the hands of iCeVeNoM next, (on a 10,10 vs K,J match-up, unaltered by the board).
5th place went to kalixalven who got knocked out by xxjondxx.
Norm427 became the next victim, followed by ags104 in third place. The heads-up clash between iCeVeNoM and xxjondxx, which had been looking increasingly inevitable through the closing stages of the event, finally came about. The final hand of the day saw xxjondxx’s A,8 come from behind to beat iCeVeNoM’s A,10 on a board which gave the former a pair of 8s.
In Full Tilt’s $1k Monday, the $107,750 went to Jeff Papola (“jpapola”) who bested Ben Chen heads-up. Player “Masterhp” finished 3rd, followed by Casey Jarzabek in 4th.
Mario Puccini finished 13th and Anthony Spinella in 25th.
