With the multitude of live poker events running this past weekend keeping the pros busy, amateur players have seized the opportunity to get in some shots of their own at the high prize-pool weekend online poker guarantees.
The biggest single prize of the weekend, a $330,900 monster ended up in Sebastian Bauer’s possession, who won the UBOC’s 8th event, the $1 Million Guaranteed 6-max poker tournament.
Bauer struck a deal with second place man Philipp Gruissem, a deal which left $40,000 for the eventual winner. Gruissem ended up taking home $250,000 for his second place.
PokerStars’ Sunday Million attracted a starting field of 8,700 players. These guys combined for a massive $1,740,000 prize-pool, with $225,954 going to the eventual winner.
The winner, Juan Antonio Barros was not a new face on the Sunday Million’s registration sheet: he had won the same event back in 2007. Player “EgorkaV” finished 2nd for $187,050 and Bobby Hodson ended up in 3rd for $130,500. Notable finishes were those of Ben Vilinofski in 11th pace and Jacob Bucher in 16th.

4,818 players registered for PokerStars’ Sunday Warm-up, and they combined for a $963,600 prize-pool. This online poker tournament ended in a deal too, with player R0HR taking home the $10,000 put aside for the winner per the deal. His total prize was thus $119,548. Player “Gretko” finished 2nd for a $128,188 prize. A notable finish in this poker tournament was that of Derek Lerner, who ended up in 10th place for a $5,733 prize.

The Sunday 500’s larger buy-in acted as a turnoff again for masses of players. Only 1,022 of them coughed up the $500+$30 buy-in, and the resulting prize-pool was a $511,000 one. Russel Carson finished 1st in this event to take down a $79,073 top prize.

Full Tilt Poker’s $750k Guaranteed proved to be much more popular. A starting field of 3,911 players bellied up to the tables, and the guarantee was well covered by the $782,200 prize-pool. The winner of this event was “The Great Pike” who scored a $138,488 prize, taking the only 6-figure haul of the event.

Kevin MacPhee won the Sunday Brawl, pocketing $86,973 for his efforts.
The last significant online event of the weekend was the UBOC’s 7th event, the $300K GTD, which awarded its top prize to Kristoffer Thorsson ($ 65,623).
