The Championship Weekend could not keep players away from the online tables apparently. They showed up in droves yet again, filling up the tables of the various high buy-in weekend guarantees and pushing the prize-pools well past the guarantees yet again. The biggest winner of the weekend was Paul Volpe, who won
PokerStars’ Sunday Million without any sorts of deals and shortcuts for a massive $253k reward.
The event saw 8,630 players belly up to its tables, tossing their $215 buy-ins into the middle to generate a prize-pool of $1,726,000.
On his way to the top, Volpe disposed of ser svensson heads-up. Svensson thus had to settle for a $185k prize. Third place man grazee1 finished in 6-figures as well: he took home $129,450.
PokerStars’ Sunday Warm Up was yet again responsible for no fewer than 3 6-figure winners. The performance was made possible by the 3-way deal the top 3 finishers had made.
The event attracted 4,807 participants, who all coughed up $215 to create a prize-pool of $961,400. J4d3dr4g0n won the
poker tournament eventually, taking down the top prize of $122k. Second place finisher Philipoune won $100k and third-place man Johnny Lodden pocketed $119k.
Notable finishes in the event were those of Martin Hruby (16th place) and Michael Skomac (35th place).
Though there were plenty of other high prize-pool events at PokerStars, no other 6-figure winners were born. Patonius2000 came closest to the threshold by pocketing $96k in his PokerStars Sunday 500 win.
Full Tilt Poker’s $750k guarantee managed to cover its guarantee as well. The 4,084 participants combined buy-ins to create an $816,800 prize-pool. No deals were made here either. The winner, Im young money, won $144k.
A notable finish in this event was that of Luis Velador, who picked up $1.8k for his 45th place.
Full Tilt Poker’s other 6-figure weekend winner was Christopher Bonita, who won the Sunday Brawl, for a $121k reward.
