The online poker scene has once again seen hundreds of thousands of dollars won by individual players in various online poker rooms over the past weekend. Of course, PokerStars and
Full Tilt Poker were once again at the forefront of weekend bustle, with Ultimate Bet and
Bodog joining them with their respective flagship Guarantees.
The biggest prize-pool and the biggest prizes were once again to be found at
PokerStars’ Sunday Million. The event attracted 7,856 players, a field which combined for a total prize-pool of $1,571,200. The reasonable buy-in of $200+$15 is probably the biggest factor in the GTD’s continued success.
Player “Vuki” took down the biggest single prize of the weekend, pocketing $235,680 for his first place. n1nja.br finished second for $172,832 and third place kiramm also had a 6-figure payday at $117,840.
As usual though, the Sunday Million was just the tip of the weekend tourney action iceberg over at PokerStars. The Sunday Warmup also generated two 6-figure winners. Player brianm15 won $138,430 out of a total prize-pool of $882,400. witcherd was probably not sorry for having coughed up the $200+$15 buy-in either. He won $102,799 for his second place. A total of 4,412 players registered for the Warm-up.
The Sunday 500 attracted only 1,009 players, on account of its heftier buy-in ($500+$35) and smaller prize-pool ($504,500). Player McMang won this one, taking home $88,186.
Full Tilt Poker, the other industry heavyweight saw its fair share of action too. The $1 Million GTD drew 2,326 entrants, building up a prize-pool of $1,163,000. The top prizes were decided by a deal struck between Vivek Rajkumar (who eventually ended up winning) and player “krasark”. Both these guys had 6-figure paydays, with Rajkumar pocketing $179,999 and “krasark” taking home $164,306.
The Sunday Brawl featured a relatively massive field too. 2,606 players coughed up the $240+$16 buy-in, to give birth to a $521,200 prize-pool. The winner, “pez102” took home $105,803.
The Sunday Mulligan, a $200,000 GTD, was won by “kvista”, who pocketed $56,408 for the feat.
Ultimate Bet’s $200,000 GTD saw much lighter action. The 988 entrants didn’t even really cover the guarantee. The winner, player CHAMANARA took home $44,660.
