EPT Vilamoura – first ever Portuguese stop

Building on the resounding success of recent EPT stop launches in Eastern Europe, the EPT has decided to open up a new front in Portugal. The Season 5 EPT Warsaw win of Portuguese player Joao Barbosa has raised quite a bit of interest in that country and the EPT is now apparently looking to capitalize on that.
Of course, besides the local competition, plenty of international talent is expected to show up at the event.
The buy-in will be €5,000+€300 and the cap is set to 600 registrants, so if it does come anywhere near full capacity, the prize-pool will indeed be a huge one.
Joao Barbosa, himself a factor in this Portuguese stop’s addition, has finished in the money in no fewer than seven of least season’s Main Events, despite having started off only at the beginning of season 5. His season 5 antics alone pushed him to 13th place already on the all-time EPT leader board.

The Vilamoura event will take place on November 17th-22nd and it too will feature the regular set of side events, including a live qualifier which makes it possible for players to earn a seat for a fraction of the regular buy-in costs. An even better idea though is to register for one of the online qualifiers at PokerStars and win your seat that way. The Steps SNGs represent an excellent way to secure your EPT Vilamoura seat, but there are other options for qualifying as well. The bottom line is that PokerStars offers you the chance to win an EPT Vilamoura seat for a few bucks or for a few FPPs if you really don’t want to invest any cash into the effort.
