European Poker Tour – Paradise Island

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) has been one of the biggest live poker festivals outside the US for years, and this year, the goal of the organizers is to make it bigger and more generous than ever before. The Main Event will take place in the Atlantis Resort and Casino on Paradise Island of the Bahamas, and it will cost participants a massive $10,000+$300 to enter. The date is January 8-14th, which means that while pretty much everywhere on the Northern Hemisphere winter will reign, PCA players will get away from the cold for a good while, trading it for the palm trees and beaches of the Bahamas.
Last year, 1,529 players coughed up the buy-in, combining for a prize-pool of almost $15 million. The winner was Harrison Gimbel, who took home $2.2 million for his efforts. This year, the player cap for the Main Event is set to 1,600, so while the possibility of beating last year’s record is still there, it probably won’t be by that much.

The high buy-in will also pretty much restrict the event for anyone not dead-serious about poker, but the good news is there are other – much cheaper - ways to earn a seat in the big dance.
If you fancy the possibility of securing a package for as little as $5.45 or 100 PokerStars FPPs, download PokerStars’ software now and register an account. Go to the EPT tab of the Events section and you’ll find a host of online satellites there, just waiting to award you a prize package, which will not only include the buy-in but travel expenses and accommodation as well.

Of course, the PCA is not just about the Main Event. There will be several days of poker tournaments and live qualifiers running. Buying in directly will be possible from your PokerStars account too, but if you do that, you’ll be considered a PokerStars sponsored player, even though you will have your own money on the line.
