Texas Hold'em

It has taken North America and Europe by storm and has even expanded to Australia and Asia in the form of lavish multi-million dollar poker tournaments and events. Texas Hold’em is a community card game, which means that every player must use some cards that are shared with other players. Each player receives private two hole cards and using the five community cards must create a poker hand using any combination of these seven cards.

Texas Hold’em has steadily gained popularity during the 20th century, until exploding onto the scene with the help of TV and the Internet. Texas Hold’em is best known in its no limit version which draws most of the attention in the World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT), Professional Poker Tour (PPT) and other poker events.

Texas Hold’em is a simple enough to learn, but can take a lifetime to master. It is a psychological, mathematical and strategic game. It is important to know the rules, learn the importance of position, read your opponents, and know your pot odds. There are many poker books on Hold’em strategy, and most of them recommend strategies that involve playing few hands (tight) while betting and raising bets with the hands that are played (aggressive).
