EPT London - Results and Wrap-Up

The EPT’s London stop was a huge success from the point of view of participation. The event was supposed to be capped at 500 entrants, but the organizers had to expand it as some of the top professionals chose to register late, and the field had already surpassed the original cap.
Taking place at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, Day 1A of the EPT London saw 300 participants belly up to the tables.
Ross Boatman, Joe Beevers, Chris Ferguson and John Phan were some of the ‘name” pros to see action this day. Max Pescatori finished the day in the chip lead, followed by Sorel Mizzi and Scott Montgomery.

Day 1B saw names like tennis champion Boris Becker, Scotty Nguyen, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem take to the tables. Greg Raymer busted out early when he shoved all his chips in on a straight draw and failed to get anything going.
Day 1B ended with Huseyin Yilmaz in the lead, followed by Alexander Albertsson and Erik Sjodin.

Day 2 of the EPT London had a 158 survivors squaring off for a share of the rather substantial prize-pool. Scotty Nguyen, Barry Greenstein, Gus Hansen and Victoria Coren were all among these survivors. Gus Hansen, Kathy Liebert and Barry Greenstein all busted out right before the money bubble burst.
With 56 players remaining in the tournament, Hafiz Khan became the unfortunate bubble boy.
A French contingent spearheaded by Philippe D’Auteuil took control of the top positions of the provisional leader-board at day’s end. Anthony Lellouche finished 2nd followed by David Benyamine in 3rd.

Day 3 of the EPT London had only 32 players returning to settle the issue of the final table. Scotty Nguyen was one of the early casualties of the day, followed soon by Beth Shak (one of the late registrants) and Sorel Mizzi.
Eric Liu finished the day in first place followed by Johannes Strassmann and Philippe D’Auteuil.
The last day was that of the final table action. Michael Martin bounced back from a micro-stack to win the first prize. Michael Tureniec finished 2nd followed by Martin Horecki in 3rd.
