PartyPoker have been all about improving their online poker product in every way possible over the last couple of years and indeed, they have been quite successful at it. Most of their tweaks were spot on, but perhaps more important than their focus on improvement is their understanding of the fact that improvement is a permanent, evolutionary process. As part of this process, they have recently overhauled the format of their Power Series tournaments, events which have acquired quite a following among the players at the site. The Power Series tournaments like the Jab, the Uppercut, the Contender and the Main Event featured a structure which allowed re-buys, a feature which came under frequent criticism for various reasons, but especially because this way, those with bigger bankrolls were granted a rather unfair advantage.
Those who have come out against the Power Series re-buys will be delighted to hear that their wishes have finally been heard and that starting with January 18-24, the above said events will all feature a freeze-out structure.

The above said 4 events become parts of the Big Freeze, so from here on out, those who squander their chips are no longer able to bounce back through a re-buy.
According to PartyPoker, the tournaments which belong to the Big Freeze deliver some superb value because they often generate serious overlays despite the re-entry option. One can only imagine how great the overlays will be with the re-buys taken out of the picture. What tournament are we exactly talking about though? the Jab, which features a $5.5 buy-in runs every day at 7 GMT and it features a guaranteed prize-pool of $10k. The Contender is quite a bit more generous: for a buy-in of $22, it features a guarantee of $20k. It too runs every night, kicking off at 7 PM GMT.
The Uppercut takes the game to an entirely new level: featuring a $109 buy-in, it offers a $50k guarantee. It only runs on weekdays though, starting at 7 PM like the above said events.
The biggest of the lot is the Main Event, which features a $109 buy-in, for which it delivers a guarantee of $150k. It runs on Sundays, from 7 PM GMT.
