Many on line poker sites offer monthly points promotions but few, if any, are as attractive and accessible as The Contenders at PartyPoker.
PartyPoker is running The Contenders again, and as the month of February rolls to an end and March appears on the horizon, all thoughts are geared towards making the most of our poker play, and how to play holdem with a punch! The Contenders runs from the first day of each month to the last day of each month. Unlike a lot of on line poker sites who seem to use points promotions to make you play more, PartyPoker allows every player to benefit from The Contenders no matter if they’re a flyweight player or a Heavyweight player. The Contenders works by rewarding players with an entry to a freeroll tournament depending on the number of points they earn in a month. As such, you are not competing against others as in a leaderboard race, and you will be rewarded no matter if you play holdem occasionally or every day. In total there are 6 weight classes that players can qualify for. The lowest weight class is the flyweight, and you qualify for the flyweight class when you earn just 1 point. You graduate to Featherweight with 25 points and welterweight with 100 points. So it continues until you get to heavyweight with 1,000 points.
Each PartyPoker weight class has its own freeroll tournament on the second Saturday of the following month. Which freeroll you play holdem in determines how much money you’re playing for. For example, the flyweight freeroll has a prize pool of $2,000 whilst the heavyweight freeroll has a prize pool of $12,000.
