The APPT, or Asia Pacific Poker Tour should need no introduction for any of the true poker players amongst you. For those who may not yet have heard of it, it is only the richest ever poker tournament series to be held in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Tour first kicked off in August, 2007 and included destinations in Korea, Australia and the Philippines. The biggest cash-out was $368,640 and it belonged to Eric Assadourian who won first place in the Macau High roller event in November, 2007. Enough reminiscing though. Let’s see what the future has in store for potential APPT players.

As you probably know, PokerStars is the main sponsor of the APPT, which means you’ll be able to qualify online at their room.

Buying in directly is always an option too, and you can do that in several ways. By dropping an email to Pokerstars customer support and wire-transferring money you’ll be able to purchase a $2,500 seat-only package, plus if you’d like, a $600 accommodation package which will cover lodging for four nights plus a breakfast every morning. Buying in will be available for cash at the scene of the event as well, but mind you that if you show up in the last possible moment, you’ll probably not be able to buy-in, because the tourneys are limited to 275 participants.

The cleanest (and cheapest) way to secure an APPT seat is through PokerStars’ online qualifiers. Starting a month and a half before the actual events commence, these daily qualifiers offer more than generous $5,000 APPT packages, which include 4 days accommodation, a tournament entry worth $2,500 and $1,800 in spending money which you can use to cover your travel expenses.
