PokerStars is the site that sends the most online poker players to WPT events. Their PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the most notable WPT event they send players to, however it’s certainly not the only one. The WPT’s Bellagio $25,000 buy-in also benefits from PokerStars traffic, as well as the Foxwoods Resort and Casino and the Borgata.
This far, no less than 3 poker players sent to the WPT by PokerStars have achieved WPT Champion’s status: Gus Hansen in 2004, John Gale in 2005 and Steve Paul Ambrose in 2006. One might as well say that PS has pretty much caught the WPT title in an iron grip. Steve Paul-Ambrose in particular had an extremely spectacular WPT run after spending a mere $110 on PokerStars satellites.
WPT final tables are all made up of 6 players, and they’re broadcast world-wide, thus reaching one of these final tables means a lot more than just the actual prize money in the balance. The best way to win a WPT package on PokerStars, is via their 10,000 FPP qualifying path. There are daily satellites running, which cost only 100 FPPs to enter, and which can grant you access to the weekly 10,000 FPP, which – in turn – can deliver you a $25k+$500 WPT package. While these satellites are indeed extremely cheap to enter, the problem is they offer only 2 seats in the weekly qualifier.
If you have 1,000 FPPs handy, you’re better off entering one of the daily qualifiers which cost 1,000 FPPs to enter, but provide 9 seats in the weekly 10K FPP qualifier. Every which way you go, upon winning you receive a WPT package which includes an entry to the event in question plus $1,000 in spending money.
