There are so many ways of generating extra value at PokerStars, it's quite a chore just trying to keep up with the news in this respect. The CardHunt, a promotion which has kicked off on March 23, is one of these small-ball promotions. It is essentially about handing out cash prizes on a daily basis, up to $5k, to those who complete the promotional requirements, which in this instance, consist in the completion of a CardHunt puzzle. Every day, there is a new puzzle available and every day, players can win as much as $5k by completing this puzzle. The CardHunt puzzles become available in the Challenge Window and each one of them is made up of 16-20 pieces. The pieces are cards from the 52-card standard poker deck.

How exactly do you complete the puzzle though? In order to do it, players will have to play at the Holdem cash tables or the Zoom poker cash tables, at the $0.05/$0.10 stakes or higher. Heads-up tables do not qualify for the promotion. Actually hunting down the cards you need for your puzzle begins with picking them up as your hole-cards. That's the easy part though. One also has to win a hand with the said hole-cards to add them to the puzzle. When the puzzle is completed this way (and it can indeed be rather tedious), an instant cash reward will be handed out. These rewards are awarded randomly, so there's no actual guarantee one will pick up exactly $5k.
One has to bear in mind that the hand containing the puzzle pieces actually has to be won to count. If - for instance- one picks up an Ac, Kc and both cards are indeed parts of his/her puzzle, but goes on to lose the hand with them, they will not be added to the puzzle. The prizes won through the completion of the puzzles can be viewed in the Challenges Window. The minimum is $1 and the maximum is $5k, so it's quite a massive range indeed. The cash rewards are not bonuses: they don't have to be unlocked in any way.
